Island Trader Vacations Exploring the Best Beaches in ItalyIf you are traveling to Italy you are already heading on a great adventure no matter what you choose to do. But what happens when you need to kick back and relax from all the sight-seeing, shopping and eating and drinking your weight in pasta and wine? For most, the solution is to head to one of Italy’s beaches to restore yourself. You thought the many great cities of this country where awe inspiring, wait until you see what they have to offer for sun and surf. You won’t believe the diversity the beaches in Italy have to offer. Relax, renew and enjoy these 3 top beaches reviewed with Island Trader Vacations.

Tuscany

You will find no shortage of beaches to choose form along the coastline of Elba in Tuscany. There are over 150 beaches that line its coast. Pack a beach bag with your sunblock, a good book and a beach towel and relax and enjoy the serenity and beauty of this stunning coastal region. One of the quietest and most peaceful beaches La Polveraia is located on the western coast. It has an amazing view as its dark rocks plunge down to the crystal clear blue waters below.

Puglia

Torre Guaceto in Puglia is a nature reserve. Its protected marine area is stunning and is absolutely perfect for diving and snorkeling with tons of small coral reefs and beautifully swaying sea grass. It is also the perfect place to just sit back and relax on its sandy beach. Well worth a day or two of beach side adventure before you get back to your regular itinerary, if you are near Puglia, this is one you can’t miss.

Basilicata

Maratea in Basilicata is one of the most stunning of the Italian coastlines. It is set on the Tyrrhenian coast and features sheer cliffs that plunge to rocky coves and beautiful beaches. The best part is since the beaches are more rocks than sand, they generally aren’t full of people in the height of the beach season of summer. Most of the beaches are easily found with plenty of signs to set you off in the right direction. If you want to get out and explore there are about 50 grottoes that are accessible by boat. Stop in to the tourist’s office to inquire about boat rentals. You will feel rejuvenated to head back to all your sight-seeing of the major cities and tiny towns of the country.

The beach is always a great escape. Do we really need a vacation from our vacation? Probably not but this is Italy so why not enjoy? Indulge yourself, and get out and see it all. It may be exhausting exploring ancient ruins and all the other amazing things Italy has to offer but it is definitely worth it.
