Island Trader Vacations Reviews 20 Tips For Your Summer VacationSummer is just around the corner and now is the time to start booking your summer vacations. To help you make the most of your vacation experiences, review 20 tips from Island Trader Vacations reviews.

  1. Get a tune up. Ensure that all fluids are full, that the vehicle is in properly running order and that headlights work and tires are properly inflated.
  2. If traveling in hot climates or deserts, consider carrying extra water in case of overheating.
  3. Be sure to drive responsibly including getting plenty of rest, taking breaks while you are driving and being cautious in public stops along the way such as rest areas.
  4. Keep your seatbelt on at all times.
  5. Avoid distracted driving including choosing to use hands free devices instead of traditional cell phones. Note that speed limits and road laws vary from state to state. Pay attention.
  6. Be sure your home is secured when you are away. Consider hiring a house sitter or a friend to check up.
  7. Don’t announce your trip online.
  8. Remember sunscreen. Note, if your sunscreen is over 3 oz, which it likely is, you will need to check it. If you are not checking luggage, buy it when you get there. Even if it is overcast you can easily get burnt.
  9. Leave plenty of time at the airport. From getting to the airport to layovers, leave time to get checked in without being rushed and ensure that you don’t miss your flights by arriving early and leaving plenty of time between connecting flights.
  10. Pay attention to your belongings. As nice as it would be to trust everyone, this is a good way to get something stolen. Never set your luggage or items down when you are out and about.
  11. Travel early in the day to avoid the crowds.
  12. Get up early to see the busy tourist sites before the rest of the tourists.
  13. Skip weekend travel. Choose to leave on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to avoid the summer weekend crowds and save money.
  14. Know what you want to do before you go.
  15. Know your limitations. Especially important if planning an adventure type vacation, know what you are and are not capable of.
  16. See different destinations to avoid summer crowds. Instead of the most popular sites, try something a little less known to avoid the crowds and the price.
  17. Rough it. Try camping, ride a bike, travel light.
  18. Drive smart to save on gas. Use the cruise, avoid quick stops and starts, keep the air downs, lighten your load.
  19. Drink water. Don’t become dehydrated. Travel, exertion and even drinking can dehydrate you.
  20. Relax and enjoy, you deserve it.
